Process
How do we determine which projects we will do?
With such an overwhelming need for wells all over the Amazon Basin we have to determine how to go about selecting the next project to do.
Projects are complex and depend on lots of people, financing, good planning and appropriate permissions before beginning to drill. Here is what that looks like once we receive a request for a well…
Project Survey
The first step as an request comes in from a missionary or tribal group is to go visit the location the well is needed. We survey the area to determine the viability of doing a project. We observe the travel logistics, housing, and geography of the locations.
At this stage we are also evaluating the strategic impact of the project. How this will help the missionaries accomplish their goals to spread the gospel.
Project Planning
After determining well digging viability we put the project into the pipeline for planning. Many times these are multi-dig projects which involve wells in multiple locations. We work at coming up with realistic estimates for transportation, operation, food, housing etc. for our team to execute a planned project in the new region. We reach out to local authorities and tribal leaders to get project authorization.
Project Execution
Once viability has been determined, fundraising secured, a plan formed, then we can finally proceed to sending out equipment and team to dig the wells. Volunteers fly into country, equipment is sent to the location and the team drills the wells.
